Friday 0.5: Moving

This week's [livejournal.com profile] altfriday5 isn't all that interesting, but I will note that I have lived in a different place every single year since I started college, and I really hope this coming year will break that streak. (Basically, it's down to whether or not I find stable employment by August.)

Friending matters not at all to me, as you'll note if you take a second look at my userinfo.

Out of curiosity, what don't you like about Hume?

I knew that; I was just being polite and trying to answer the "who are you and why do you care" question before it could be asked.

I haven't studied him very thoroughly, but what I have read was too easy to poke holes in. But I all too easily wrote a paper in college refuting "A Treatise on Hiuman Nature" point by point, though not as thoroughly as I have been told Kant did. His premises are shaky and easily attacked, and once they fall, the rest comes down like a house of cards.

Hmmm. P'raps I should make it clearer that I don't care who people are and why they care. *makes note to self*

I'll concede that the Treatise is kinda wobbly, but the Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding seemed pretty unassailable to me....

I'll have to check that one out. Converniently, it's on Bartleby (http://www.bartleby.com/37/3/) as part of the Harvard Classics. Thanks for the tip.
