Inexplicable car owners

Seen on the bumper of a minivan this morning:

"How can there be too many children? That's like saying there are too many flowers."

....I have no words.

On a not unrelated note, why the hell do so many people have vanity plates that just state the make and model of the car? Do they think we won't notice how cool their car is if they don't point it out to us?

I've wondered about those vanity plates too. I'd guess the owners think it's cool to have a vanity plate, but don't have enough imagination to come up with something that isn't obvious from looking at the car anyway.

Given that most of the ones I see tend to be on classic cars I would tend to disagree with this. And in that vein I don't think it's about the coolness of the plate - it's about the coolness of the car. When you've been lusting after a 63 Dodge Charger your whole life and you finally get one there's an elation to it that just makes you want to scream "I got my 63 Dodge! I have her! She's beautiful!". Since that tends to be socially unacceptable, a vanity plate will do :)

People who do it on late model cars... well, that I don't really understand. I saw someone once who was proud enough to have a 1990 Buick Skylark that the had the vanity plate "90 Lark" (and this was in about 2000 so it wasn't even close to classic yet). They had all the chrome redone in gold too.

My vanity plates are pretty much only for me though, since most people don't get them and have to ask (both of my plates are my cars' names). And there's the added bonus of never having to look up my plate number when I have to fill out a form :) (Though that convenience alone would not in fact be worth $25/yr)

Yeah, almost all the ones I've seen were on late model cars.

I've just been seeing 'em on late-model ones, without even any reference to the year. Like "BMW325I."
