My mechanic's named Panico. He's at 352-3530. I recommend him extremely highly, and the shop is only about four blocks from San Leandro BART. He does only take cash (no checks even), so you have to remember to hit the cash machine before retrieving your vehicle.
(I took my car there once and he was great. I need to take mine in again. For some reason I'm horrible about doing this sort of thing - I think I'm intimidated by calling the mechanic.)
