A passing thought

Is it just me, or does "shibboleth" sound like a word that really ought to have been coined by H.P. Lovecraft?

It's actually a biblical phrase but I actually agree with you...

I'm aware it's a biblical phrase. Hence the "ought to have."

Golgotha always sounded to me like a monster that fought with Godzilla.

I agree with you. It has always sounded like some sort of dread, eldritch, squamous, gibbering non-Euclidean thing to me.

The Dutch WW II equivalent of "shibboleth" was "Scheveningen." Both of which sound like things you'd say about 2:00 AM after the bars close. But I'm vulgar.
