A tissue of absurdities

For some reason, the last five or so tissues in this cheap generic-brand box in my living room are blue instead of white. I don't know much about how facial tissues are manufactured, but that seems kinda bizarre. You'd think they made the blue ones and the white ones on separate assembly lines er somethin, so that there'd be no chance they'd end up in the same box.

Aha, wait! They might in fact have done this on purpose so you'd know when you were running out. Now that I think about it, that's actually pretty cool. In that case, though, I wonder why the less cheap brands don't do it.

the Kleenex boxes at work have the last several tissues in peach rather than white.

Actually, tissues start out in pastels. In an uncharacteristic display of good taste, the companies bleach them. The cheaper companies tend to skimp on the bleach though, and often run out before finishing a box.

You probably have the "institutional" box. Kleenex does the same, in the standard-size box that you buy by the case, so that maintenance staff can see at a glance if a box should be swapped out.

Ah. The fact that I don't tend to buy the standard-size boxes by the case would be why I haven't seen this before, then.

I tend to buy the largest box I can find, but Adobe (like many of my former employers) buys it by the pallet, so I get those one-size-fits-morphotypical-people boxes in my cube. :)

Yeah, it's a convenient indicator for hotels, hospitals, etc.

But I just finished an actually defective box of tissues. It seems two long strips get cut and folded together for the pop-up effect. One strip didn't get cut all the way through, so when I pull, out come three tissues attached together and three more falling out beside them. Annoying.

I love your puns! :-)

Oh, I'm glad someone noticed. :-)
