I suppose I had to succumb to the interview meme at some point
Questions by
tenacious_snail:
5. When did you start growing your hair, and when was your last haircut?
When I was born, really. It hasn't been above my shoulders since it first hit them when I was about two, and the last time I got it cut as opposed to just trimmed was about fourteen years ago--wow, that's half a lifetime. Hadn't realized that until now.
I keep toying with the idea of getting it cut, because it's a pain to take care of. But I just can't imagine it looking good any shorter, not with how wild and wavy it is.
4. What is your dream job?
Wish I knew. It seems to change every couple of years. Right now, as I mentioned recently, I'd love to get deeper into educational publishing.
3. Have you always lived in California? If so, where else would you live, if you had to?
As long as makes no never-mind; that is, nearly as long as I can remember.
I've never really thought about where else I might live. It seems like nearly everywhere else where I might fit in culture-wise is too damn cold. I suppose I might check out Sydney er somethin.
2. How did you get to use V as a name? Do you dislike your given name? Have you tried other alternatives, and, if so, why did you discard them. Are you in favor of vendettas?
Through introducing myself that way; yes; no; not particularly.
(What? Those are perfectly good answers.)
1. If someone were to make a dinner with the intention of seducing you, what would the menu look like?
Cheesy enough that I'd laugh, probably.
Oh, you mean what would the menu have to look like for them to actually succeed? Ain't no such animal. I like good food, but it's never gonna make me decide to sleep with someone.
Okay, okay, so what's my perfect meal? Don't have one of those either. I like lots of foods; "perfect" depends on my mood. The most I will say is that adding bacon to things rarely hurts.
Soyeah, comment here with the words "interrogate me" and I will attempt to.

"The equivalent of a formal introduction"
Re: "The equivalent of a formal introduction"
1. Do you actually fear Prunella Scales and a hammer, or merely sympathize with those who do? If you do, why, and why is that fear irrational?
2. What isthe nastiest thing anyone in your family has yelled at a squirrel?
3. How did you first get into slash?
4. What is your favorite adjective?
5. Are your intentions honorable?
Re: "The equivalent of a formal introduction"
1)
a) No, not really. Or only a little. Comes of watching too much Fawlty Towers at an impressionable age.
b) She is Sam West's mother, and I am a Sam West fangirl and have been known to both slash characters he has played (mostly because he is in Hornblower) and make, um, highly appreciative comments about his many fine personal characteristics. Once during a comment thread about Irrational Fear Of Actors Reading Slash I commented, idly, 'you know, demographically speaking, it's more likely that their mothers would stumble on it...' and produced an APPALLED silence. Wherupon
c) It's irrational because i) She is by all reports an extremely nice lady, and ii) I am quite sure she has enough good sense that even if she DID hypothetically read slash she wouldn't go within 100 km of Hornblower Fandom or anywhere else where she might encounter her kid's (extremely well-behaved, I assure you) fangirls in High Squee Mode.
2) "I see your fuzzy little ass around here again I'mma get me a WEE FURRY HAT!"
3) Reading it: Pirates of the Caribbean and sheer chance. "Oh, hey," I said. "Free smut, by interesting people. I like this!"
Writing it: Ian being sick for a year, thus causing me to be stressed out AND have a lot of time on my hands that I couldn't do anything really productive with, and
4) Good question. Lately it appears to be 'motherfucking', but it's been that sort of month...
5) No. But they are honourable :-)

It makes more sense if he has his glasses off.

I think I may be missing an antecedent. Or possibly even two.

Atop one of the high craggy peaks of the North Farallon Islands, ~25-30 miles off the coast of SF.
2. Name three things you like about your house.
(a) The people and cats who live in it. (b) That we appreciate each others' contributions to it, and don't get caught up in arguments about how best to do something (c) The tangerine tree out back, and the glorious mimosa out front!
3. If you could introduce one person you've never met to one of your hobbies, which person and which hobby would it be?
Geocaching would be the likeliest, in all of its quirkiness. As to a person I've never met before... hmm! I suppose perhaps an LJ friend I hadn't yet met, like [info]slipjig and [info]rafaela, or [info]theferrett and [info]zoethe...
4. What do you think you'd be doing for a living right now if you hadn't pursued your current career?
I would love to have been a National Geographic wildlife photographer, or a writer of books about secret gems of travel places. Practically speaking, I'd likely have done web design work.
5. How are you celebrating Hanukkah this year?
By lighting my grandmother's old bakelite menorah, which is glowing next to [info]brian1789's and [info]patgreene's Xmas tree. Jay picked up some chocolate gelt in case we get around to spinning the ornate ceramic dreidl.

Last week, I noticed a high incidence of chilly weather grumbling in the Bay area while Colorado had a few rare subzero days. Hot and cold are rather relative, and once someone's lived in a place with significant seasonal variation for a year or two, they start to blend in. I even find that my cold tolerance varies seasonally: the temperature that sends me huddling inside in September will draw me out of doors half naked in December.
I'm always up for a round of the shower meme. Ask away!
