In attempting to save a picture off teh int0rnet just now, I noticed it had an insanely long filename, or at least insanely long for a seemingly random string of hex digits (32, to be precise). But I certainly didn't expect there to already be a picture with the exact same filename in the folder I was trying to save it to.

I checked, and the pictures are completely unrelated. Further inspection revealed four or five other pics with random-hex filenames of equal length, so I guess there actually is some not-too-obscure piece of digital photo software out there that routinely labels pictures this way. But it's still rather surprising that two out of the half-dozen I'd downloaded just happened to have the same one. That's, what, about a six in 16^32 chance? On the order of one in a hundred million million million million million million...unless those numbers aren't really random. Anyone know if there's a scheme to them?

Dang it, I shoulda bought a lottery ticket on the way home.
