Cognitive biases
Dec. 31st, 2010 04:55 pmLast night I had evening plans that I had to cancel because my car wouldn't start. Of course, this made me kinda mopey; in fact, the dominant emotion I felt was "This is so unfair! Why did my car have to pull this on me just when I was going to go out and have fun?"
Which upon reflection is utterly silly, because when else would I have the chance to find out that my car wouldn't start? It's not like I'm in the habit of checking whether it's running okay when I'm not about to get in it and drive somewhere.
Though now I almost wonder if I should be....
(It seems to be okay now, although diagnosing the problem was somewhat of an adventure. It wasn't quite a matter of a simple jump start.)
