Further computational annoyance

Grrr. I have to wonder: does the fact that the shortcut to the alternate modem I tried using for a while (which I uninstalled weeks ago) keeps reappearing on my desktop no matter how many times I delete it have anything to do with the fact that, now that I'm back to the old wireless router, I keep getting kicked offline every few goddamned minutes?

Re: getting kicked off hte wireless router. Let me guess. WinXP? D-Link connection management software? Either violate the D-Link instructions by checking the "let windows manage my connection" box or follow them very carefully, from the FAQ site, and set it up again with the "Wireless Zero" service running, then disable that service.

No idea on the magic self-installing modem.
