Okay, I know it's supposedly polite to actively tell people you're not going to consider them for a job, rather than just appear not to have noticed that they sent you a resume. But did you really need to send me (and presumably most of your other applicants) a chunk of dead tree with your rejection on it when I know for a fact that not only did you have my email address and telephone number, but I almost certainly sent you my resume by email in the first damn place?

Well, "formally" it's supposed to be snail-mail. I've gotten a couple; it was weird. I'd much rather receive email myself.

I'm just amazed you got a reply at all. I think I have been on more interviews that were my last contact than not. I cann't even count the number of resumes that have dissapeared into black holes.

I totally agree.

OTOH you could have the scenario where after spending a total of 8 hours interviewing with a company, they simply stop calling you with no explaination.

Or a company could fly you to NYC and put you up in a hotel overnight, only to have the VP decide to overrule the manager, usurp the process, and hire his buddy.

Not that I'd know anything about either of those.

I can sympathize somewhat--but not entirely, given that I've so far not had anyone spend more than half an hour interviewing me before ceasing to call me.
