Wow. I just watched an entire fireworks display--as well as bits and pieces of four or five others--from my living-room window.

Granted, it was partly obscured by trees. And there was apparently another, closer one that I couldn't see from here (again due to trees) but could've seen from the street outside--but then I wouldn't have been able to catch any of the others. Being on the second floor of a building overlooking a large chunk of city does have its perks.

(However, if the neighbors keep me awake tonight with amateur explosions the way they did last night, I will be far from amused. My job interview skills are not likely to improve on little sleep.)

Tonight's been "convince Zoe the end of the world isn't nigh" night -- that, and finding out that it takes Casey a day and a half to recover from a vacation. :)

Ki isn't happy either, it appears. He has required a good deal of petting over the past couple of hours.

(Well, actually his reactions have been wildly inconsistent. Right now he's hardly batting an ear, but fifteen minutes ago he was doing the wild-eyed meowing thing. Apparently I was mistaken in thinking I'd heard the whole range of piteous noises from him--to my great surprise, he's got quiet ones in his repertoire too.)

I used to be able to walk about 10 steps and watch the whole Great America fireworks display. It was nice.

As it was, I watched the downtown SJ one from an overpass. If the pictures come out halfway as cool as they should, I'll have some good ones. Otherwise I just wasted a bit of film...
