No idea about Fremont, but we saw two good ones on the way home from Palo Alto to Brisbane. They were to the north, and appeared to be coming from behind us, going diagonally right to left across a good part of the sky. Although the peak in terms of meteors per minute will be after midnight, my experience is that a lot of the more spectacular fireballs happen earlier. We saw these while driving on 101, when we couldn't even see stars, so "good" viewing conditions were not a requirement, beyond a clear sky.
