So, a flirtation that's been steadily building just came to its long-awaited climax--unfortunately in the wrong way, as he explained he's not poly.

Oddly enough, I feel more blah now than I did half an hour ago. Perhaps the disappointment is just now sinking in.

Ah well. 'S'not like I thought we were soul mates er anything. Nor am I exactly alone and bereft. Tomorrow I'll remember that. For now, I shall console myself with Ben & Jerry's.

Sorry to hear it... *hugs* Disappointments like that just suck.

But hey, on the positive side of things, at least you know it's the poly/mono thing and not anything else. That usually comforts me, in the long run.

Oh, it definitely does. I'd much rather hear "I'm interested, but I'm not poly" than "I'm poly, but I'm not interested." Not only is it much less of a blow to the fragile little ego, but this way I can hold onto the faint hope that he'll change his mind after being exposed to poly a bit more. (Yes, I'm deluding myself, but delusions are surprisingly comforting sometimes--especially when they're in the indefinite future tense so they can never be proved false.)
